  • A large, beautiful, distinctive and low-branched tree, best as a landscape specimen or shade tree, the American Beech has dark green leaves that turn golden in the fall. Also in the fall, its triangular nuts are edible.  It has distinctive, smooth, thin, gray bark and can live hundreds of years.
