A milkweed for shady areas, Poke Milkweed also is a larval host for the Monarch Butterfly with its lovely, drooping white blooms and greenish foliage.

Poke Milkweed can grow tall and, along with Black Bugbane, makes a nice backdrop for a shady garden.  Hummingbirds and specialized bees also value this plant.

Pointed leaves angled up and back from the drooping flowerhead give the appearance of little hats.

Fun fact: The leaves look like American Pokeweed's, hence the name.

Milkweed, Poke
