Hydrangea-like spring flowers; bright red fall leaves and fall red berries. Attracts small bees and native flies as well as numerous species of moths, caterpillars, and beetles, and songbirds and the ruffed grouse, the state bird of Pennsylvania, also feed on the native cranberry.
