Aster, New England

  • Pollinator value: Very High.  Special value to native bees; monarch nectar source; larval host for Checkerspot and Pearl Crescent butterflies (wildflower.org).

    Burst of late-summer early-fall blooms in varying shades of purple, pink and white.  

    Similar to New York Aster but with a greater abundance of rays surrounding the yellow center.
