Cardinal Flower is a favorite of the Ruby-throated hummingbird.  It also attracts butterflies and native bees.

Cardinal Flower is a perfect garden plant with its spires of bright-red flowers blooming for up to two months in late summer to early fall.  It's one of the most beautiful colors in any garden.

Fun Fact: Cardinal Flower was introduced to Europe in the 1600s and, like the birds, named after the red robes worn by the Roman Catholic Cardinals.
