Carex rosea is named after the slight, rose tint to the seedhead. This handy little sedge can handle just about any spot, even dry shade and medium-wet spots, as long as it gets at least some protection from the sun.
Its leaves are deep green and mostly evergreen, and star-shaped flower spikes pop above the foliage in late spring. Rose Sedge is a cool-season plant and grows most robustly in the spring and fall.
