When my sunflowers are in bloom, they fly off the shelves, with their cheery, yellow blooms.  No wonder sunflowers are symbols of happiness and optimism.

Pollinators love them, too. The Thin-leaved Sunflower, and others in the genus, are larval hosts to the Silvery Checkerspot and Painted Lady butterflies.

The leaves on Thin-leaved Sunflower are exceptionally long and slender.  Pruning in spring encourages stronger stems and denser growth.
