Sunflowers are among my easiest plants to sell.  It's the cheery yellow beckoning from across the nursery.  It's like a magnet for me, too.  No wonder sunflowers are symbols of happiness and optimism.

Pollinators also go after sunflowers.  The Thin-leaved Sunflower, and others in the genus, act as larval hosts to the Silvery Checkerspot and Painted Lady butterflies.

The leaves on Thin-leaved Sunflower are exceptionally long and slender.  Pruning in spring encourages stronger stems and denser growth.
