Possumhaw Viburnum, also known as Smooth Witherod, makes a great garden shrub with its fragrant spring flowers against dark green foliage followed by adorable fruits that mature from pink to blue, and finally a deep, rich blue.

In fall, Possumhaw's tough, puckered leaves turn a vibrant red.  Two plants are needed for fruit, which brings in not only songbirds but also wild turkeys, grouse and squirrels.

Possumhaw usually grows in moist areas along streams but is adaptable to medium soils.
