While the vast majority of our plants are perennials, Partridge Pea is an annual, meaning it blooms for a long time in one season and then is gone.  However, Partridge Pea also readily self-seeds, so you're pretty much guaranteed to have more and more each year.

Partridge Pea features beautiful yellow blooms with red stamens that are favorites of bees and other pollinators.  Its lovely foliage hosts Little Yellow, Orange Sulphur and other butterflies and moths.

It's also called Sensitive Plant because its feathery leaves fold together when touched and as the sun goes down.  Songbirds and game birds are attracted to the pods that form after the flowers fade.
